‘Numocks Duet’ removes cover songs due to licensing issues, vows to create original music

Local duo band, the ‘Numocks Duet,’ has officially announced the removal of all their uploaded cover songs from streaming platforms. The announcement was made on Don Petok's Facebook page on Friday, March 7.

In their official Facebook page post, the famous duo explained their decision, citing the "lack of necessary licenses and rights to upload and distribute" their cover songs on music platforms and profit from them.

“As cover artists, we have the right to cover songs or create renditions, but we do not own the copyright to those songs. We apologize to all content creators whose work we inadvertently infringed upon by registering our covers on various platforms,” they stated.

“We are now committed to creating more original songs, God willing, or, if given the opportunity, collaborating with other artists or obtaining licenses. Thank you for your understanding and we are sorry for any inconvenience,” they added.

As cover artists, they understand that they do not own the songs they perform, but they believe they still have the right to sing them for entertainment purposes. They acknowledge that if they make any mistakes as artists, they are open to correction. They express their gratitude and wish everyone peace and love.

Other cover artists have faced similar situations where their cover songs were flagged due to copyright issues. A recent case involved Shaira Abdullah Alimudin, also known as Shaira Moro, whose famous song “Selos” was removed from music streaming services due to copyright issues. However, it was eventually settled with artist Lenka and her management.

Jasper and Joquezelle Numock, the husband-and-wife duo known as the “Numocks Duet,” are music entertainment content creators from General Santos City. They have garnered significant popularity for their captivating cover songs and duet performances.

With a strong following on YouTube, Facebook and TikTok, their heartfelt renditions of classic songs resonate deeply with fans, often garnering thousands of views. They are well-loved for their engaging and soulful performances, making them a prominent name in the cover music scene.

The musical duo is currently promoting their preview single titled “Kalungan,” available on streaming platforms.
