On Tuesday, February 11, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) General Santos hosted a productive meeting with local content creators at the DTI conference room. This meeting aimed to strengthen ties and explore ways to support digital entrepreneurs in their journey.

The gathering served as an introductory session, allowing both parties to understand each other’s roles and discuss opportunities for collaboration. The discussion opened with an overview of the creative industries, highlighting their potential for economic growth and the increasing role of digital content creators.

Attendees included Suzette and Mark Marifosque of Marifosque Family Vlog, Genory Vanz Alfasain (Yadu Karu) and Mark Lester Pastorpirde of 12 Beat, Harlem Jude Ferolino of Certified Voice Artists Philippines Inc./Voice of the Youth Network, Bryan Oñate of RMN Gensan, Carl Corpuz of Pitik South Cotabato, and Gian Karlo, Arniel, Erwin, Arnold, and Russel of Teamph.

Key topics discussed focused on the development of content creators as entrepreneurs. These included strategies for monetizing digital platforms, understanding copyright laws to protect their content, and formalizing business operations through registration with agencies such as DTI and BIR.

Additionally, attendees were introduced to essential business practices like drafting contracts with clients, ensuring fair compensation for their work, and navigating taxation and accounting requirements to better manage their earnings.

DTI emphasized the importance of professionalizing the digital content creation industry, recognizing that content creators contribute significantly to the digital economy. The agency expressed its commitment to providing further training, mentorship, and business development programs tailored for vloggers.
