TeamPh impresses netizens with cleanup efforts in GenSan

Content creators ‘TeamPh’ have wowed netizens with their commendable efforts in cleaning various areas of General Santos City.

The group, comprising Arniel Buwali, Erwin Dela Cruz, Arnold Piasedad, and Jeremie Asong, kickstarted their initiative with a coastal cleanup at Lion's Beach, challenging themselves to collect garbage through their "100 plastic bags challenge."

Their Facebook reel documenting the cleanup quickly gained traction, being shared multiple times and raising awareness about their environmental efforts.

TeamPh was initially founded in 2016, focusing on humorous and "hugot" content. However, they struggled to gain followers and views, leading them to pause content creation as they became busy with their respective jobs.

In 2023, they decided to return to content creation, attempting to ride current trends, but still struggled to achieve the expected traction.

Motivated by their founder Jeremie Asong, the team shifted their focus to cleaning initiatives. Asong believed they should contribute positively to the world they live in, setting a good example for their followers by cleaning some areas in GenSan.

"Before we made our first content, we spent not just days but months thinking about it. Until we created a video that we never expected would resonate so well with people,” said Asong.

“We couldn’t believe it ourselves because on those days, we were extremely exhausted, working for 7 hours from morning till noon. We didn't mind the fatigue because we wanted to inspire others to maintain the cleanliness of our city, not just for the residents but also for the visitors who come to GenSan,” he added.

The public's reaction was overwhelmingly joyful, with numerous compliments that truly warmed the team's hearts and further motivated them to continue their important work. They express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone and consider it a cherished debt of gratitude.

The team continues their cleaning initiatives, encouraging their followers to do the same in their respective communities. They also hope to extend help to others in need.

On Monday, November 11, Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao invited TeamPh to her office to personally thank them for their environmental initiative and for setting a good example for the youth.

The mayor highlighted that this youth initiative exemplifies community spirit and love for the environment, which has been highly appreciated and praised by the citizens.

As a token of gratitude, Mayor Pacquiao provided TeamPh with P10,000, which they can use for refreshments and to purchase cleaning materials such as gloves for their future cleaning efforts.
