The Sarangani Barangay Health Workers (BHW) Association Inc. was awarded Best Performing Provincial BHW Federation by the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) XII during the Pugay Pangkalusugan 2024 Regional Awarding Ceremony on October 3 in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
The recognition is a testament to the leadership of Governor Rogelio D. Pacquiao, who consistently emphasized the importance of health services in the province.
The association received P125,000, made possible through the collective efforts of the Provincial Local Health Board (PLHB) members, health workers, personnel from the rural health units, and the people of Sarangani.
Through Governor Pacquiao’s vision, the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Sarangani has implemented policies and programs that supported the efforts of the BHWs, ensuring better healthcare access for all Sarangans.
Razel Bustria, provincial BHW coordinator, recognized the efforts of all the officials and stakeholders who contributed to the well-being of the health workers in Sarangani.
Bustria thanked Governor Pacquiao, Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta, Board Members Irish Louie Arnado and Joseph Calanao, who are PLHB members, and the rest of the provincial and barangay officials for their unwavering support.
Bustria acknowledged Congressman Steve Chiongbian Solon, as one of the significant figures in establishing a solid foundation for the BHWs during his time as Sarangani’s governor.
His contributions paved the way for the current achievements of the BHWs.
Bustria also recognized the efforts of the seven municipal BHW presidents and all the municipal BHW coordinators for their leadership and dedication.
She highlighted the crucial role that BHWs play in the success of health program implementations across the province, calling them "the lifeblood" of Sarangani’s healthcare services.
