Marela Glospeah Juaman Takes the Crown as ‘Hiyas ng Pilipinas 2024’

Koronadal City’s Marela Glospeah Juaman brought home the crown at the 2024 Hiyas ng Pilipinas pageant. It continues Mindanao's winning streak after inheriting the title from last year’s winner, Fatima Kate Bisan of Sarangani Province.

Juaman emerged victorious among 44 contestants during the grand coronation night held at SM North Edsa Skydome in Quezon City on October 13.

Juaman was also recognized with the Best in “Journey to the Crown” Challenge and Best Advocacy Video awards, both of which guaranteed her a Top 20 position.

As the pageant's grand winner, she earned the title of Miss Tourism World Philippines and will represent the country in the upcoming Miss Tourism World competition.

Despite her national victory, Bisan has yet to compete internationally, as details for the next competition have not been released. The last Miss Tourism World contest was held in 2022, where Filipino contestant Justine Felizarta finished as the second runner-up.

In addition to Juaman’s win, other titles were awarded to experienced pageant contestants. Ysabel Macuja from Makati City was named first runner-up and crowned Miss Elite Philippines, while Rona Lalaine Lopez from Pangasinan took second runner-up, securing the Miss Continental World Philippines title.

Macuja, who won “Best in Swimsuit” at the recent Miss Universe Philippines pageant, aims to continue the country’s success in the Miss Elite competition.

Meanwhile, Lopez, a semifinalist in the 2023 Miss Grand Philippines pageant, will participate in the Miss Continental World contest.

Miss Philippines Earth alumna Jasmine Paguio from Manila finished as third runner-up and won Best in Evening Gown, while Josiella Mae Lagrimas from Laoang, Northern Samar, completed the winners’ circle as fourth runner-up.

This year marked the first time the Hiyas ng Pilipinas pageant was held in Manila, with previous editions taking place in Cebu. The event was notable for its punctual start and timely conclusion within three hours.

For the first time in any competition, the judging panel included three international pageant organizers: Miss Intercontinental CEO Detlef Tursies, Miss Elite CEO Stefano Douaihy, and Miss Tourism World CEO John Singh.
