The youth of Sultan Kudarat convened for the province’s Linggo ng Kabataan (LNK) celebration. The event, which ran from August 10-12, 2024, featured various activities centered on youth empowerment.
On August 10, the LNK celebration kicked off with a grand opening program and parade. During the first day, young people from the province’s eleven municipalities and one city participated in youth events, including community dance, booth-making business expo, ordinance making, Madigra, and Battle of the Bands.
The afternoon was made special by two segments that inspired the youth. First was the “Real Talk with the Youth” featuring content creator TG (Thailand Girl).
This was followed by the “A Day with the Universe” (Meet & Greet) event, featuring beauty queens Alexie Brooks (Miss Eco International PH 2025), Tarah Valencia (Miss Supranational Philippines 2025), Cyrille Payumo (Miss Charm Philippines 2025), and Chelsea Manalo (Miss Universe Philippines 2024).
On August 11, the youth activities continued with Larong Pinoy, a Jobs Fair with DOLE and TESDA, and Mr. and Ms. Sangguniang Kabataan.
On August 12, the Sultan Kudarat youth participated in the International Youth Day Forum. As part of the celebration of International Youth Day, the forum invited DILG 12 Regional Director Atty. Rochelle Mahinay-Sero and 4Ps Partylist Representative Congressman JC Abalos.
For this year, the International Youth Day celebration in the country focused on the theme "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development."
This theme underscores the pivotal role of digitalization in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and highlights the significant contributions of young people in this transformative process.
“Together, we embark on a mission to empower the youth, recognizing their immense potential as catalysts for positive change,” said SK Provincial Federation President John Raynan Kilayco.
In his speech, Kilayco emphasized the potential of the youth and their contribution to nation-building, as well as the importance of collaboration. He thanked the provincial government for their unwavering support to the youth sector.
During the event, Sultan Kudarat Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu gave an inspiring speech to the province's youth.
“Pinapakita natin na ang Kabataan sa Sultan Kudarat ay ang ating top priority,” said Governor Mangudadatu.
Governor Mangudadatu is recognized as the youngest governor in the SOCCSKSARGEN region. He is an active member of the youth sector.
The governor also shared in his speech the ongoing and upcoming projects for the youth. He thanked the partners and other collaborators for their support for the youth sector in the province.
Governor Mangudadatu signed the revised Sultan Kudarat Youth Development Code of 2022 and led the awarding of the youth recognized as Outstanding Youth of Sultan Kudarat.
The LNK celebration ended with Gabi ng Kabataan, featuring celebrities Jerome Ponce and Paul Salas.
LNK is an annual event in the Philippines dedicated to celebrating and empowering the youth. The celebration includes various activities aimed at developing the skills, leadership, and civic engagement of the youth.
Section 30 of Republic Act No. 10742, the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015, mandates the observance of Linggo ng Kabataan in every barangay, municipality, city, and province during the week where August 12 falls, to coincide with International Youth Day (IYD).
