The beauty queen from Koronadal City, Clara Nodesca Michelena, triumphed over 17 other contestants at the recently concluded Mutya ng South Cotabato pageant, held on July 14, 2024, at the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center.
Miss Polomolok, Hazel Jane Anating, was named first runner-up, while Miss Tampakan, Chantelle Pecson, secured the second runner-up.
The winners impressed the judges with their wit and intelligence during the question-and-answer segment, where they shared their views on the beauty and essence of Mutya ng South Cotabato.
Michelena also garnered several special awards, including Best Tnalak Festival Couture, Best in Swimsuit, Best in Evening Gown, and Best in MNSC Transition Challenge Video.
The Mutya ng South Cotabato is an annual provincial beauty pageant that aims to promote tourism, social responsibility, fashion, and beauty in the province. It also advocates for the awareness and importance of Tnalak weaving, a traditional craft of the Tboli people.
This event is a significant cultural celebration, showcasing the beauty and talents of the participants while promoting local heritage and traditions.
The pageant was part of the 25th Tnalak Festival and the 58th Founding Anniversary celebration of South Cotabato province, which runs from July 11-18, 2024.
