This year's 18th Pakaradyan Festival and 56th Foundation Anniversary of the Municipality of Malapatan feature a "tri-people village" that showcases the rich and diverse culture of the town. Visitors can experience the fun and learn about the traditions of the three communities that live in Malapatan: the Moros, the Blaans, and the settlers.
This year’s Pakaradyan Festival has a theme: "Experience the culture, Experience the fun, Experience Malapatan." The festival runs from June 19 to 21, 2023.
At the Bangsamoro Cultural Village, visitors can immerse themselves in the Moro culture and traditions. They can try on traditional attire, pose with a traditional wedding bed, play kulintang music, weave inaul cloth, dance pangalay, and sample traditional Moro delicacies.
The Blaan culture is being showcased at the Bali Gastifun (House of Gathering), where visitors can admire the Project Msif (embroidery). The project features traditional Blaan dresses with authentic designs, created by Libun Msif (Blaan women embroiderers) from the town’s 12 barangays. This project aims to preserve and promote Blaan culture, as well as revive interest in traditional Blaan dressmaking.
At the Bali Gastifun, visitors can also see the work of National Living Treasure Estelita Tumandan Bantilan, who is renowned for her traditional Blaan igem (mat) weaving.
The Settlers Village celebrates the culture of the Christian settlers with a "Pista sa Nayon" theme. Visitors can enjoy traditional games, dance, and music, as well as delicious delicacies. The village also collaborates with Malapatan National High School's Special Program for the Arts to bring the theme to life.
