Sarangani Writers League is now YORP registered

The Sarangani Writers League (SWL) has recently been registered as a youth group under the Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP) of the National Youth Commission (NYC).

The YORP program facilitates the registration of youth and youth-serving organizations to ensure their access and participation in NYC-initiated programs nationwide.

With the encouragement of the Provincial Government of Sarangani through its Provincial Youth Development Office, SWL registered in YORP and is now entitled to several benefits provided by the 2017 Revitalized YORP Guidelines.

These include the representation of the organization in YORP-exclusive activities, the use of the YORP Seal in organizational materials, free access to organizational training programs offered by NYC, and the promotion of organization-initiated programs, projects, and activities through NYC media outlets.

"The Sarangani Writers League aims to promote diversity in literature by advocating for the representation of various sectors in the field. With the abundant writing talents of Sarangani Province's youth, as evidenced by their achievements in campus journalism conferences, writing competitions, and published works, we strive to provide a platform for aspiring young authors," SWL Chairperson Carlou Barroca Espedillon said.

"As someone who started writing in elementary school as a campus journalist, I am passionate about cultivating a love for writing among the youth. Our YORP certification will allow us to expand our reach and support Sarangan youth in achieving their dreams as writers," he said.

SWL seeks to provide a platform for Sarangani youth to express themselves through the art of writing.

SWL is the organization of literary writers from Sarangani Province. It was created in 2017 as one of the clusters of SOX Writers, the umbrella group for the provincial and city organizations of writers in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region. Since then, SWL has conducted activities that encourage the creation, propagation, development, and appreciation of literature in the province in collaboration with individuals, private groups, and government agencies.
